Nitriding Pit Furnace

A Nitriding Pit Furnace is a type of industrial furnace designed for nitriding and carburizing applications. These furnaces are specifically used for the heat treatment of steel parts and components, which require a hard and wear-resistant surface. Nitriding is a heat treatment process that diffuses nitrogen atoms into the surface of the steel to improve its hardness, wear resistance, and fatigue strength. Carburizing is a similar process that diffuses carbon atoms into the surface of the steel to increase its surface hardness and wear resistance.

Nitriding Pit Furnaces typically consist of a pit or chamber that is lined with insulating material and a heating element, such as electric resistance or gas-fired burners. The materials to be treated are placed inside the chamber, and a gas mixture of ammonia and nitrogen is introduced to the chamber to heat the materials.
